Little Fish Cafe is one we recommend without hesitation. Tucked along North Quay looking out over Douglas Harbour, it does exactly what the name promises — good, honest seafood, simply prepared, with the day’s catch chalked up depending on what’s come in. Manx queenies, scallops, and whatever’s fresh from the boats feature heavily, alongside a shorter list of non-fish options if you’re travelling with someone who isn’t tempted. It’s a small, family-run space rather than a grand dining room, which suits the food — no pretence, just good ingredients handled with care. Lunch is a little easier to walk into, but dinner is genuinely popular with locals as well as visitors, so booking ahead is worth doing, especially in summer or during TT. It’s a five-minute stroll from the Sea Terminal and easily combined with a wander along the harbour afterwards. Ask for a window table if the tide’s in — the harbour view does a lot of the work. One of the best examples of the island’s seafood done properly, without the prices or formality of some of the newer places along the Prom.
